A 35-Year Journey
The Old Railway Line Garden Centre in Three Cocks, near Llyswen, has embarked on a significant milestone – celebrating 35 years of serving the local community. The garden centre was founded by Mark and Christina Cleary in 1990, starting with a modest 8x6ft greenhouse. Over the years, the centre has expanded into a 100,000-square-foot award-winning destination, featuring a wide range of plants, gardening supplies, and expert advice.

Mark Cleary, the founder of the garden centre, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the growth and success of the garden centre over the last 35 years. This new development marks an exciting new chapter for us and we’re thrilled to be celebrating it with our customers and local community. We look forward to welcoming everyone for what promises to be a fantastic day.”
The event will kick off at 9:30 am with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by renowned TV gardener David Domoney. The ceremony will be followed by a goodie bag for the first 100 customers, packed with seasonal treats and gardening favourites.
“From planting customers’ hanging baskets by hand in the early days to expanding into an award-winning centre, it’s been an amazing journey,” said Christina Cleary, the garden centre’s co-founder.
Christina Cleary added: “We’re proud of our roots and excited to celebrate this new chapter with everyone who’s been part of our story.” The couple started the business from modest roots but have seen it blossom into one of the UK’s premier destination garden centres. The day will also feature live music and a ceremonial cake cutting to mark the anniversary. The celebrations will continue into the afternoon, with something for everyone to enjoy.
