Garden Makeovers – Tips for Transform your Garden

What do you want your garden to look like?

You may think that this is a silly question, but it really isn’t. Many people think that they have an idea of what they would like their garden to look like, but when it comes down to actually making those decisions and implementing them, they fail because they don’t have the proper vision.

When considering what you would like your garden to look like, there are a few things that you should consider:

  • How much walking space would you like?
  • How many flowers and plants would you like?
  • What colors do you want in your garden?
  • How many different types of flowers and plants do you want?

1. Be careful about the plants you prune

  • Be careful about the plants you prune

At first, you might be tempted to prune everything. However, some plants need to be left alone or they can die or have reduced growth.

  • Don’t cut off new growth
  • Don’t cut off branch ends
  • Don’t cut off flowers
  • Don’t cut off leaves that your plant needs for photosynthesis (like evergreens)

2. Hide trash cans

To hide your trash cans, you have a few options. You can use fencing to conceal them, or build a shed just for your trash cans. If you are handy with carpentry, you can also construct some clever contraption to store your trash and recycle bins out of sight. This is a good idea if you want to save money by building your own shed.

If you do decide to build a shed for storing your trash cans, it is best if all sides of the shed are closed off so that no one can see inside from any angle. Your shed should be at least 10 feet away from where people usually eat or relax, as it will smell bad over time and won’t look very nice either! Of course, this distance must be even further away if there are children who play nearby; kids don’t like foul odors!

3. Plan out the entire space

The next step is to plan out the entire space. You could get out some graph paper or just have a piece of paper and pen to hand! The best way I have found in the past is to draw a few pictures, this will help you see what you actually want in your garden and where it is going to go.

Think about things like:

What do you want to include?

Where do you want to place each item?

Vegetable patch, Greenhouse, Compost bin etc.?

How much space do you have?

How much space do you need for each item?

It’s always best when starting out, to not cram everything in at once. This can save you money in the long run as well as making your garden look more spacious and inviting. If once one area is finished and has been completed how you like it then move on adding another part of your garden design. It’s best working with the space that you have rather than against it!

4. Use Plenty of Lights

It is always a good idea to use plenty of lights in your garden, especially solar lights. Do not forget that the evenings are long and you will definitely want the opportunity of enjoying your garden in the evenings too. Solar lights are great because they come on automatically when the sun goes down, so there is no fiddling about with timers etc. You can buy all sorts of different styles of solar light, from bird baths to trees and cute little animals. They will even add extra security to your home too as anyone going near them is automatically lit up!

Whether you are looking for extra security around your home or just want a romantic look to your garden then using lights is definitely a must! Just make sure that you position them well away from anything flammable and keep them well secured so they don’t get blown over by high winds etc. Also if you have lots of plants consider how close the lights are positioned to these plants as they could easily catch fire or be burned by an over-heated bulb.

5. Choose Something That Flows Well with Your Home’s Exterior

To avoid having a hodgepodge of clashing elements, make sure you choose something that flows well with your home’s exterior. Be mindful of the colors and textures already present, and pick a theme or style that complements what’s already there. Create some common threads between your lawn and garden, so they work together harmoniously instead of competing against one another.

Once you’ve put in all the effort to transform your garden into something beautiful, the last thing you want is to have it all clash with how your house looks on the outside. While you’re busy planning for how everything will look once it blooms, remember to consider how it will look from every angle—not just when you’re walking through it.

6. A bench or a hammock can add a lot of beauty to a garden

Having a Bench or Hammock in the Garden

The next tip for a garden makeover is to add a bench or hammock. The reason to do this is because it will be an ideal spot for you to sit, read a book and relaxing while you are outside enjoying the sunshine.

It has been said that placing one of these in your garden will also help to add more colour there as well.

Follow these tips and you too will have a great looking garden!

Tip #1 – Pots and Containers

Put the emphasis on pots and containers, perhaps with a bold splash of colour or mix plants in pots of varying heights. Remember that many plants look their best when they’re grouped together, so use big groups of one variety; it creates a real impact. To add height, grow climbers up trellises or obelisks or train them up walls and fences.

Tip #2 – Vertical Gardening

If your space is limited but you still want to grow some vegetables for the kitchen, then vertical gardening might be just what you need. This can be done by growing vegetables up supports such as trellis netting or chicken wire attached to wooden posts sunk into the ground around your beds. Climbing vegetables can also be grown up wires strung between two walls or fences. Gourds, runner beans, peas and sweet peas are all good choices for this kind of gardening because they all have tendrils that will cling onto whatever you put there for them to climb up! You could also try growing some fruit like blackberries on wires strung between two walls or fences – this is great if you’ve only got a small patch of earth at the bottom to plant in!Gardening is a good hobby. It helps you relax and gives you a sense of accomplishment. However, not all gardeners are skilled in gardening.
