Gardeners and green thumbs have a common saying: “There’s always room for another plant.” This sentiment will be put to the test on Saturday, May 3, at the White Rock and District Garden Club’s annual plant sale, held at the Ocean Park Community Hall.
- Benefiting the local community
- Increasing community involvement
- Supporting the local food bank
The club, which has been a staple in the White Rock and South Surrey area for 78 years, comprises 70 enthusiastic members who prioritize the plant sale each year. For the club, the plant sale is its largest fundraiser, and the funds raised are used to cover expenses such as guest speakers, transportation for garden tours, and an annual donation to the local food bank.
“Many of our members are seniors who have had to give up their garden, but boy can they bake!”
Terry Haight, plant sale director, highlights the variety of baked goods that will be available at the sale. The club’s bake table is a top seller, featuring delicious treats made by its members.
